Welcome to the Introvert Awarenss website! We are here to support conscious societal awareness of Introverts, fully a third to a half the population, who are largely invisible in the mainstream culture.

Right off the bat, I want to introduce you to Susan Cain. Her excellent 2012 book is a must-read for Introverts and the Extraverts that want to understand us:
Quiet     The Power Of Introverts In A World That Can't Stop Talking.

Quoting from Susan's book, she says "[I]n 1921 the influential psychologist Carl Jung published a bombshell of a book, Psychological Types, popularizing the terms Introvert and Extravert1 as the central building blocks of personality. Introverts are drawn to the inner world of thought and feeling, said Jung, Extraverts to the external life of people and activities. Introverts focus on the meaning they make of the events swirling around them; Extraverts plunge into the events themselves. Introverts recharge their batteries by being alone; Extraverts need to recharge when they don't socilaize enough."

I also want to introduce you to Marti Olsen Laney. Her 2002 book, though a little dated, is another must-read book for Introverts and Extraverts alike:
Introvert Advantage     How To Thrive in an Extrovert World
1. Please note that throughout this website, we use Carl Jung's original spelling of the word "Extravert." Also, we capitalize Introvert and Extravert throughout, to emphasize these special words.
